Moonlight Ale is a Celtic-influenced band based out of Charleston, SC.
A mainstay of Charleston, SC’s pub scene, the band’s trademark is its live show. A night with the Ale features raucous Irish anthems, misty-eyed ballads, and rollicking trad sets. It all makes for a high-flying, whiskey-soaked evening, perfect for pub corners and festival stages alike.

Moonlight Ale has performed throughout the Carolinas for the more than 20 years.
With the current lineup in place since 2017, the band has honed its sound in the barrooms, pubs, breweries, and stages of Charleston, South Carolina and beyond. While Irish at its core, the band often flexes towards Americana and folk stylings, and plays year-round. Of course, we’re known for the Ale Trail, our annual takeover of the Charleston, SC (and beyond) music scene on St. Patrick’s Day weekend and March in general.
With five distinct instruments and four members providing vocals, the band creates a tasteful, dynamic, and joyous atmosphere with our live performances.
